Small but interesting

project in St Petersburg where we were required to design super-lightweight structure supported off existing steel frames capable of carrying only small amount of additional load. Therefore 1-2mm thick glass was used to reduce the weight in conjunction with aluminium frame. This was first practical application of cold bent “Gorilla Glass” in Europe (and possibly beyond), with the self weight UDL of 15kg/m² which may mark the development of the new type of lightweight structures in the future.
