Malishev Engineers project featuring design and construction of 11 steel and glass “crystals”  scattered along Valikhanova street in Omsk  (including big fountain shown above, a larger design intended as a local ‘Arc de Triomphe’) has been shortlisted for this year’s Structural Awards, hosted by Institution of Structural Engineers.

Judge’s comment:

“The judges were very impressed by this collection of small projects for Omsk that combine to make an outstanding collection of work. This clearly required a great deal of concerted effort by a relatively small practice. The structural engineering design is imaginative and the results are very elegant. This is a great example of the impact that a small practice can have in town or city – it is not the scale of project that counts but the scale of ambition and imagination.”

The winners and commended projects will be announced at The Structural Awards ceremony, taking place on the Friday 13th November 2015 at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London, EC1Y 4SD.
